Principal’s Message

Greetings, Families!

It is hard to believe that we are moving into the last week of Quarter 3. Your students have dedicated so much time to their learning and development this year, and we have much to celebrate. As we prepare for Spring Break and the start of Quarter 4 at the end of the month, we want to start planning for our 2020 Smarter Balanced Assessment that will help us monitor your student's progress in English Language Arts and Math.

Here is some important information for you to consider:
  • Mark your calendar for our Spring Open House on Wednesday, April 8 from 5:30-7pm; we will share important testing information and tips for supporting your student
  • The SBA testing window begins Thursday, April 9, and continues until Friday, May 8, so attendance every day is VERY IMPORTANT during Quarter 4
  • Encourage your child to continue practice time on iReady Reading and Math during Spring Break; aim for at least an hour on both programs EACH WEEK
  • Practice Tests are available to everyone; use this link to explore some practice questions with your student (Select a grade, then choose from the four links listed under "Smarter Balanced Practice Tests")

Test scores are not the only measurement of learning, but we do want to communicate to our Eagles that it is important to prepare, take their time, and keep a growth mindset when they encounter obstacles. Thank you for reinforcing this message at home!

Sincerely,
Adam Swinney
Principal, Seaside Middle School

Your Support is Critical for Our Success - Thank You!

The PTSA hosted the first ever Color Fun Run on Saturday, February 22nd. The event included a 5K Fun Run, Kids' Mile, and a Toddler Lap. Thank you to our participants, volunteers, and organizers. We hope to make this an annual event to bring our community together and raise funds for our students' learning.

The PTSA helps with a variety of events and programs at Seaside Middle. This year they have supported Fun Friday celebrations, jump started the Yearbook, planned community gathering events, and fundraised for athletics, field trips, and positive behavior incentives. Elections for the PTSA Exec Board are Monday, March 30th from 6-7pm. Please consider running for a board position. Your voice matters!
