ARCHIVES: Reopening of Our Schools Community Meetings

The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District initiated an internal Task Force to begin exploring the reopening of our schools in the 2020-21 school year based on the new guidelines released from the California Department of Education and the California Department of Public Health. The guidelines require schools to consider hybrid schedules in order to limit the total number of students on campus at one time and ensure that students are kept at least 6 feet apart where practical.

Based on the guidance from the state, as well as incorporated findings from the student, parent and staff surveys administered in April and May on Distance Learning and Reopening of Our Schools, the Task Force has developed draft schedules for input.

We acknowledge that the draft proposals may not meet the wants and needs of all stakeholders, but they are drafted to ensure the health and safety of students and staff based on the guidance issued by the California Department of Education and the California Department of Public Health.

Take the survey on today. MPUSD hosted four virtual online community stakeholder meetings to solicit feedback on how our schools are reopened to ensure the health and safety of students, staff and the community.
